Walking in the Dolomites

3 easy excursions from Santa Cristina in Val Gardena

Santa Cristina is at the heart of Val Gardena, exactly half way between Ortisei and Selva Val Gardena. A lovely, small town with breathtaking view of the Monte Pana and its waterfall. An oasis of silence, which offers fantastic views and many chances for walking in the Dolomites.

If you are in Santa Cristina searching for peace and nature, you just have to prepare the backpack, wear a good pair of trekking shoes and go for one of our excursions in Val Gardena.

Walking with kids on the Monte Pana - "Panaraida"

With this short excursion, you can reach the beautiful lake of Mount Pana with your children, through a series of small spots with wooden games, like little houses, the giant swing and the mini cable car made of wood. An excursion dedicated right to the families.

Walking through art

An excursion in the Dolomites that perfectly combines the beauty of natural landscapes of the mountains with our traditional art of carving. The itinerary of the Troi Unika unwinds along a scenic trail where you can meet the great environmental art installations "Pultredes" of Stephan Perathoner and "The feather" by Eric Perathoner, fantastic and surreal. The Troi Unika is a very simple but very impressive walking tour in the Dolomites that you can face in about 1 hour.

Walking towards St. James Churc

The “Itinerary of the legend of st. James” starts from the church of Santa Cristina and winds along a path marked by the installation of wooden boards where the pupils of the local school explain the legend of St. James in 3 languages. According to the famous local legend, the noble Jacob Von Stättenecke went with parents in pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, where he was unjustly sentenced to death by the Earl of Galicia. Jacob was hanged but survived and once back home, he wanted to raise the church that takes its name to thank God for saving his life. The legend route ends right at the church of St. James, patron saint of travelers, a picturesque building that dates back to 1181 and is the oldest of the Val Gardena.
